Cultural Heritage
Founded in the early 13th century, the Old Town of Mutriku is crisscrossed by narrow paved streets, where we can admire numerous palaces, towerhouses and ancient houses with wonderful coats of arms.
The Galdona Palace, for instance, has an ashlar facade dating back to the 17th century, and the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is one of the most emblematic buildings of the area since the sanctuary is Gipuzkoa's most representative sample of Neoclassical architecture.
What is more, there are more remarkable buildings that should be mentioned. The Town Hall, the Zabiel Palace, the current cultural centre, Luardo Tower-House, Olazarra-Mizkia Palace, Montalivet Palace, which is a 18th century building that survived the fire in 1543, and the Vieja Lonja, the headquarters of the first guild in Mutriku.
