Bilbao to host the 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving world finals in the women's and men's categories

This date, beside the Guggenheim Museum, brings the world's top women divers to Bilbao for the first time

The 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving world series is to hold its grand diving final in Bilbao. It will take place on Saturday 14th September from La Salve bridge, with the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum as a backdrop. Divers of 18 nationalities will be taking part in the whole competition, which consists of seven heats, including the final in Bilbao for both categories, women and men.

This September will be the fourth time this high diving event has been held in the city, though it is the first time the audience at Abandoibarra will also be able to watch the women's event. Last time was in 2018 and over 25,000 spectators clustered along the estuary to watch the event. The men will jump from a height of 27 metres and the women from 21.

With Gary Hunt (GBR) and Rhiannan Iffland (AUS) as favourites to hold on to their titles, the most extreme diving competition begins on 13th April at El Nido (Palawan, the Philippines). After the Philippines, the series goes to Italy, Portugal, Ireland, the Lebanon and Bosnia-Herzegovina, before culminating in the final in Bilbao.
