On this trail, one of the oldest routes, the seafaring side of the Basque Country rubs shoulders with its agriculture, and towns coexist with the countryside. The first section runs along the coast in Gipuzkoa province, from the mouth of the river Bidasoa to the border with Bizkaia province, characterised by dramatic differences in height.
